Word from the Vice-Dean, Research 2022-23
"The 2022-2023 academic year saw the arrival of talented new professors, the establishment of new partnerships as well as the continued efforts of our researchers to address problems important for society. Dr. Oliver Warr, a new Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, is dedicated to understanding the nature, distribution, and transport of groundwater and its role in modern society.
Professors Alexandre Poulain and Vance Trudeau from the Biology Department have partnered with the First Nations of Québec and Labrador to establish novel biosensors to monitor caribou health, a critical issue for the First Nations. Professor Stacey Smith?, a biomathematics expert, studies the propagation of infectious diseases and embarked on a journey to unravel the mysteries of COVID-19 transmission.
Additionally, Professor Heather Kharouba’s innovative research offered new insights into the interactions within native ecosystems, particularly the potential benefits of non-native species.
