The technology proposed must show promise and sufficient level of advancement so that in a horizon of up to three years, it can be reasonably expected that the technology will be sufficiently mature to:
- Be licensed to a company, or
- Launch a researcher/student company, or
- Provide the researcher with more development funding opportunities.
The EBF aims to support activities broadly defined as advancing the translational potential of the discovery/technology such as:
- Increasing its technology readiness level
- Perform experiments essential to protect IP
The Faculty of Science EBF should not be considered the main source of funding to do a market analysis or develop a business plan. We encourage applicants, and their graduate students, interested in developing this aspect of research commercialization to apply for the Graduate Entrepreneurship Experience Programme (GEEP).
