Transition successfully to graduate/law school

To celebrate your accomplishments, Victoria Barham, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, is pleased to invite you to the Reception of Excellence, a special event featuring a panel discussion with alumni on the theme: 🎓 "Successfully Transitioning to Graduate Studies or Law School"
Our alumni will share their journeys, experiences, and the strategies that helped them gain admission to some of the world’s most prestigious programs.

Among the participants:

Yosef Bukhari

Yosef earned an Honours Bachelor’s in Political Science at uOttawa in 2021 before completing a Master’s in International Affairs at the Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington, D.C. Currently serving as a Political Officer at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington, D.C., he has demonstrated a strong commitment to international relations and diplomacy. In recognition of his academic excellence and leadership potential, he has been awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. In Fall 2025, he will begin his studies at the University of Oxford in England, further advancing his expertise in global affairs.

Michela Rodrigez

Michela completed an Honours Bachelor's in Psychology at the University of Ottawa in 2023. She is completing her Master of Science in Psychology at the University of Montreal, where her research focuses on knowledge transfer within Quebec’s health and social services system. She aims to bridge the gap between academic research and its practical application in policies, programs, and practices. She also works at the Office of Drug Research and Surveillance at Health Canada, focusing on research and knowledge transfer related to the overdose crisis.

Marianne Stintzi

Marianne graduated with distinction with an Honours Bachelor's degree in International Development and Globalization, along with a minor in Spanish, from the University of Ottawa in 2024. Driven by a deep commitment to global justice, she is currently pursuing a Master's in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action at Sciences Po in Paris. Her research focuses on strengthened international human rights law and diplomacy. In parallel, she serves as a researcher at the Political Observatory of Latin America and the Caribbean at Sciences Po.

Sapphira Thompson-Bled

Sapphira is from Brampton, Ontario and is a graduate from uOttawa’s Common Law Program. She is also a graduate from the Master of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and is a graduate from uOttawa's Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in International Studies and Modern Languages. Sapphira is currently an articling student with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada and is the Chair of the Ontario Bar Association Student Section. She is interested in criminal, family, civil, corporate, and international law. Sapphira values education highly and making the most of the opportunities presented to us.
