Black and racialized students

Welcome day for Black and racialized students at the University of Ottawa's School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies

This is a day of welcome for newly admitted Black and racialized students who will be starting their program of study at the University of Ottawa's School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies. This day is an opportunity for Black and racialized students to network with resource people at the School, discover the specific resources available to them, chat with peers, understand the process of integration both academically and socioculturally in the host country through the shared experiences of other Black and racialized students. And to discover the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire et de valorisation des savoirs sur Haïti (CRIVASH), whose mission is to produce and make visible knowledge about Haiti, as well as in the Haitian diaspora, and to promote local forms of knowledge. CRIVASH takes a critical, committed epistemological stance, in line with the decolonial critical thinking developing in the global South, which immediately raises issues of coloniality, cognitive justice and social justice.
