Co-op Program
The University of Ottawa co-op program allows students to combine their studies with paid work placements. Co-op allows students to apply the skills and abilities learned in the classroom, and to gain valuable work experience, and a network of professional contacts.
International Internships
The Faculty internship program offers students the opportunity to work with a Canadian NGO in a developing country. Some of the organizations that have participated in the program in recent years include: AFS Interculture Canada; Gender at Work; Mines Action Canada; Uniterra; and World University Service Canada with placements in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Field Research Courses
The School of International Development and Global Studies has been a leader in the Faculty of Social Sciences in the design and delivery of field research courses. Although the available courses change on a yearly basis, in recent years, professors of the SIDGS have offered courses in Bangladesh, Kenya, and Rwanda. These courses offer a unique opportunity to gain international development experience and pursue a research project in a supervised environment.
Student Mobility Program
As students of the School of International Development and Global Studies (SIGDS) you have the opportunity to participate in a student mobility program during your undergraduate or graduate program. The SIDGS, in collaboration with the International Office has developed partnerships with well renowned institutions around the world.

Model UN Course
Undergraduate students from the DVM program have been some of the most committed participants in the Model UN Course. Students learn about diplomacy and the multilateral and UN system at the University Ottawa, capping off their studies by participating in the annual National Model United Nations conference in New York City in the spring.
