The Class President is among the highest honours a student in the Faculty of Social Sciences can achieve. It symbolizes years of dedication, academic excellence, and leadership. More than just a recognition of grades, it represents perseverance, resilience, and the ability to inspire others.
Overview
- Three graduating Social Sciences students will be selected to speak for the entire Social Science graduating class for the June convocation.
- Open to all graduating full-time and part-time graduate and undergraduate students in good standing.
- The Class President will write and deliver an address (no longer than five minutes) to fellow graduates, faculty, honoured guests, family and friends attending the convocation ceremony.
- Students may nominate themselves.
Application Process
Application Deadline: Midnight, March 31, 2025
1. Complete the “Class President Nomination Form 2025” between February 18 and March 31. Nominees need:
- Names and emails from at least five members of the graduating class. Please note that nominators will be contacted via email to confirm their nominations
- The name of a professor that supports their nomination.
- 200-300 word submission written to support the Class President Nomination Form. This written piece should explain why you are an excellent representative of the graduating class.
- Proof of submission of the “Application for graduation”. You will receive a confirmation email, which you can save as a PDF or screenshot.
2. Write a Class President speech. Each candidate is invited to prepare an original and impactful speech to be delivered at the Graduation Ceremony in June. The speech should be 4 to 5 minutes long. Speeches must be submitted to [email protected]by March 31, 2025, at midnight. Please note that minor adjustments may be made after submission.
Successful candidates will be contacted during the week of April 14, 2025.
