Congratulations to the winner of the National Student Award for Leadership in Public Administration

Silvana Gomes
The winner of the National Student Award for Thought Leadership in Public Administration is a student from the Centre on Governance!

The Centre for Governance congratulates Silvana Gomes for receiving the 2024 National Student Leadership Award (NSTLA) for the University of Ottawa, jointly awarded by CAPPA and IPAC. This award recognizes her outstanding leadership, academic excellence, and significant contributions. Silvana, a PhD candidate in Public Administration in the School of Political Studies, is co-supervised by Professors Eric Champagne and André Lecours and works as a PhD research assistant at the Centre on Governance.

Silvana has notably worked on the Public Square Project to address the affordable housing crisis, supervised 35 students in the CityStudio project aimed at updating Ottawa’s Ten-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan, co-led research on intergovernmental fiscal transfers with Olivier Jacques, and contributed to the upcoming book "Digitalization of Public Administration in Federal Countries."

The Centre for Governance Studies is proud of Silvana’s accomplishments and looks forward to supporting her ongoing contributions to research and political collaboration.
