Vulnérables, tolérés, exclus : Histoire des enfants handicapés au Québec, 1920-1990
Commend’s book provides a rich history of children with physical disabilities in Quebec, shedding light on social representations of disabled children between 1920 and 1990. Addresses the themes of assistance, education and health, Commend draws on a vast body of archives and interviews to present a nuanced portrait of children whose status was determined by a double tension: between exclusion and integration, on the one hand, and between biomedicine and social education, on the other hand.
