Our commitment is built around three essential pillars: shaping responsible citizens capable of addressing the current and future needs of communities through French and immersion programs in social sciences, fostering francophone inclusion and diversity, and supporting cutting-edge research on the challenges faced by modern francophone societies. Being located in the heart of the Canadian capital, we have a unique opportunity to collaborate with public institutions and francophone organizations to create a space for dialogue and innovation.
In our mission, we strive to become the top choice for French-language social sciences studies. Through our Strategic Plan, we aim to enrich the student experience, drive forward cutting-edge research, and integrate values of diversity, equity, and inclusion within our community. This plan places the Francophonie at the center of our initiatives, expanding our French program offerings while facilitating access to higher education for francophones both in Canada and internationally.
On this special day, the Faculty of Social Sciences reaffirms its role in promoting and celebrating the Francophonie across Ontario and Canada.
Several events will mark the day, inviting our entire community to gather and celebrate:
- Official unveiling of our murals, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at MRT 144: Come and discover the new murals that celebrate the history and culture of Franco-Ontarians;
- Franco-Ontarian flag-raising ceremony, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the University Square: Join us for the official ceremony as we proudly raise the Franco-Ontarian flag, a symbol of resilience and pride;
- Franco-Ontarian Day lunch, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the University Square: Enjoy a meal in honor of the Francophonie, a convivial moment to connect and share.
Together, we are building strong bridges between cultures, strengthening our community, and contributing to the flourishing of the French language for generations to come.
