When I embarked on my internship at the Center for Sustainable Transformation (CeST), I couldn't have anticipated the wealth of lessons and experiences that awaited me. It was more than just an opportunity to acquire professional skills; it was a transformational adventure.
From day one, I was immersed in a dynamic and stimulating environment. My contribution to the Eco-Schools and Eco-Campus initiatives was a constant source of inspiration. Writing articles on environmental issues, exploring sustainable development goals through the “Young Reporters for the Environment” program, every day was an invitation to push my intellectual limits.
What made this experience truly memorable was the way I was welcomed by the CeST team. Collaboration was not just a word, but a daily reality. Working on a documentary allowed me to give presentations on my assigned research, transforming a simple talk into a conversation where every voice was valued.
Living in Accra as a foreigner was not only a geographical transition, but also a cultural exploration. My warm host family made this immersion smooth, making me feel at home from the very first days. Challenges, of course, punctuated the journey, but they were springboards for learning and growing.
The flavors, the smells, the smiles - all these things helped shape my view of Ghana. Magnificent beaches, exploring the Kakum National Park and the Cape Coast castle, and so on.
Every moment was a discovery. Even small challenges, such as familiarizing myself with the local coffee, added nuance to my experience.
As I bring this stage of my life to a close, I realize what a catalyst CeST was. It was not just an internship, but a chapter in personal and professional growth. The lessons learned, the friendships made, all translate into immense gratitude for the experience.
CeST exceeded my expectations, not only in terms of the project, but in providing a fertile ground for individual growth. My baggage at the start was full of skills, but my return is marked by a broader perspective, a strengthened commitment to sustainability and a certainty that every individual, no matter where they come from, can play a crucial role in transforming the world.
In conclusion, my time at CeST was an odyssey marked by learning, friendship and personal discovery. It was much more than a professional experience, it was a life lesson that will continue to inspire my future path.
Medaase Accra (thanks in Twi), for all the lessons, the smiles and the unforgettable hospitality.
