Dr. Racine is a member of our clinical area and is a practicing child psychologist. Her research program examines the impact of maternal and childhood adversity on mental health and wellbeing, risk and resilience processes, and what prevention and intervention strategies break cycles of risk across generations. Her excellent research work has been regularly featured in the media.
Dr. Quan will join us as a teaching-focussed professor who is passionate about issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion. In his research, he has concentrated on family relationships across diverse cultural contexts, highlighting children’s health and well-being. In addition to his interest in cross-cultural issues and human development, Dr. Quan also has a strong interest in undergraduate education, holding a Certificate in University Teaching from the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Nicholson is the Director of Clinical Research at the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. He uses brain imaging and machine learning models to predict mental illness, primarily focusing on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He is also interested in investigating the neural underpinnings of minority stress and its relation to mental illness risk and resiliency.
