During his time with us, Mateus will conduct research on international development policies and their intersection with LGBTQIA+ rights, under the supervision of Professor Stephen Brown (School of Political Studies), a renowned expert in the field. His work reflects a broader commitment to exploring inclusive approaches to global cooperation and amplifying underrepresented perspectives in development discourse.
The ELAP program, administered by Global Affairs Canada, aims to strengthen academic ties between Canadian institutions and those across Latin America and the Caribbean by supporting the mobility of emerging student leaders. Hosting Mateus is part of the School’s ongoing dedication to academic excellence, international collaboration, and equity in research.
We are thrilled to welcome Mateus to Ottawa and look forward to the insights he will bring to our academic community!
