The In-depth Experiential Learning Stream (IELS) stands out by allowing students registered in your program to apply their learning through concrete projects.
The IELS comprises a set of 10 courses that contain a recognized experiential learning component. These units are not additional to the program requirements and do not extend the length of the program. See the course sequence of the program.
By choosing to participate and adding the IELS to your program of study, you will
- develop and apply new discipline-specific knowledge and skills,
- explore how to apply acquired knowledge and skills in a professional setting,
- receive concrete feedback through realistic interactions with the environment, including instructors, supervisors, colleagues, and stakeholders.
A percentage of the final grade in an IELS course will be assigned to experiential learning activities. In 1st-year classes, the percentage allocated to experiential learning activities is 20%. This percentage rises to 80% of the final grade in 4th-year courses.
To participate, you must:
- inform us of your interest in joining the In-depth Experiential Learning Stream by sending an e-mail to [email protected] so that we can allow you to register for the required courses since they are reserved for students in the stream.
- register for the following courses during the registration period: FSS 1300 and DVM 11003.
- It is also possible for you to register for another first-year experiential course, DVM 13003 (offered in winter 2025).
- pay a fee of $111 per stream course (fees will be charged to your student account).
