In order to facilitate exploration in areas not covered directly by courses offered, students are permitted to take two directed readings courses during the course of their graduate studies. The Graduate Studies Committee meets to approve all such proposals.
In order to be approved, a proposed bibliography plus a synopsis of the content and goals of the course, a description of the frequency of meetings, and a description of the means of evaluation should be clearly indicated by the professor in a letter demonstrating his/her agreement to conduct such a course. The qualifications of psychologists unaffiliated with the university can be approved by the Graduate Studies Committee upon receipt of appropriate documentation.
