Flexibility
The Bachelor of Social Sciences offers flexibility, allowing you to develop your interests in a wide range of social sciences topics. You will focus your studies in three disciplines, two of which must include Anthropology, Criminology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, or Feminist and Gender studies.
Practicality
For students who have longer-term goals in mind, this program has the advantage of being one of only two 3-year Bachelors degrees at the University of Ottawa. In addition to offering a shorter degree the BA in the General Social Sciences provides you with an excellent foundation for options such as graduate school, business, education or law.
Skills
In addition to providing you with knowledge in your chosen disciplines, this program is designed to provide you with the core skills that are central to the Social Sciences. These skills include problem-solving, organization, analysis, effective written and oral communication, research methods and information management.
