Description of the event

Join us for an engaging social and learning event, hosted in partnership between the uOttawa Library, the Racialized and Indigenous Student Experience centre(RISE), and the Office of Indigenous Affairs. Enjoy interactive learning games, a special screening of the documentary Mamandagokwe, and delicious food provided by an Indigenous caterer. The event will feature opening and closing remarks by Dara Wawatie-Chabot, Indigenous Relations Supervisor at the RISE Centre.

Mamandagokwe is a short documentary film showcasing Dara Wawatie-Chabot's life and the historical context of their community and the Algonquin Nation, including a focus on their story through beadwork and how Indigenous youth find beauty in the struggle. 

This independent documentary was produced with the support of the Filmmaker Assistance Program (FAP) at the National Film Board of Canada and CBC's Local Production Development Fund. Written, Produced and Directed by Gabrielle Fayant. All Rights Reserved
