Krofchick, a fourth-year student in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics (Faculty of Arts), will receive $2,000 from the University for her artwork, which will adorn the cover of this season’s greeting card.
She used acrylic on paper to depict the contest’s theme of innovation through a vivid abstract of two people embracing.
“To me, innovation lies in teamwork, in asking for help when we need it and in leaning on each other in order to collectively progress.”

“We would be nowhere without the love of others and the communities we have worked so hard to build,” says Krofchick. “This piece displays the closeness between two people to symbolize the importance of collaboration.”
A special thank you to our contest judges, Ottawa artist-photographer Christine Fitzgerald and Roméo Godin, senior graphic designer with the University’s Creative and Brand Services, for their invaluable perspective and expertise. A sincere thank you as well to all participating students who shared their artistic vision of innovation in this year’s contest, submitting a total of more than 90 works of art!
