Please provide a brief summary of this training and your experience working with animals In QACS799 - Introduction to Animal Sciences, I had learnt protocol associates on the care and ethics of animal use in science and particularly focussed on various guidelines, legislation, regulations and ethics on animal experimentation including Three R's and their use in animal experimentation. I had modules which covered occupational health and safety along with pain, distress and endpoints.

In mice handling training, I got to know brief overview of the regulations and requirements regarding animal research in Canada, and the role of the University Animal Care Committee (UACC) and Animal Care Services (ACS). I also learnt on Topaz Elements, the UACC SOP’s, and the importance of familiarizing with the protocol(s) under which I am associated. Skills including handling and a basic health assessment and restraint were also done. We familiarized the importance of drawing up medications and proper handling of syringes and needles.
