Dr. B. Courtney Doagoo is a Senior Research Associate and Director of Strategy and Program Development at the University Research Chair in Technology and Society and the AI + Society Initiative at Centre for Law, Technology and Society at the University of Ottawa.
Dr. B. Courtney Doagoo is a dynamic leader and strategic future-forward advisor, passionate about technology, social impact, and public policy. She has over a decade of experience leading and conducting research on innovative and complex subject matter and is particularly interested in frontier technologies. She has training and expertise in public policy research, including studying and developing frameworks and methodologies that incorporate global trends, foresight, and intersectionalities to understand the broader challenges and societal impacts associated with fast-moving fields. She has experience working with and across academic, international intergovernmental, think-tank, public sector, corporate, and other various stakeholders environments.
Dr. Doagoo works closely with Dr. Florian Martin-Bariteauand his portfolio of projects in and out of the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society, conceptualizing, shaping, and leading the strategic development of research programs and projects and supporting the ongoing management, progress evaluation, and knowledge dissemination related to the research projects at the AI + Society Initiative and the University Research Chair in Technology and Society.
Dr. Doagoo completed her doctoral degree in intellectual property law and innovative communities at the University of Ottawa and her post-doctoral fellowship at the Centre for International Governance Innovation in technology governance and policy.From 2020 to 2022, Dr. Doagoo was an AI & Society Fellow and Special Advisor to the AI + Society Initiative at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society at the University of Ottawa. She notably advised Dr. Florian Martin-Bariteau on the development of the Initiative and collaborated with Dr. Jason Millar on developing the Canadian Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Ethical Design Lab (CRAiEDL).
She currently also serves as a Director on the Board of Dark Matter Labs (Canada), and as a Senior Advisor for the Business for Peace Foundation (Norway).
