Dr. Mary Cavanagh is a Faculty member at the Centre for Law, Technology, and Society and an Associate Professor and Director of the School of Information Studies in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Mary Cavanagh studies action nets, practice theory and organizational learning, information organizations, information relationships and interactions. Her work currently looks at public information libraries and online engagement with everyday citizens, and the information practices of consumers in Canada’s rights-based telecommunications marketplace. She is currently conducting a case study of the Saskatchewan Public Library network’s successful online advocacy campaign and political action.
Dr. Cavanagh has deep practical knowledge of Canada's academic and public library sectors, developed over many years in the field and as a researcher.
