David Fewer is the Director and General Counsel of the Samuelson-Glushko Canadian Internet Policy & Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC), an affiliate of the Centre for Law, Technology and Society, and an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section at the University of Ottawa.
David Fewer is an intellectual property and technology lawyer who brings over twenty-five years of experience to CIPPIC's advocacy on intellectual property and technology law files.
Before joining CIPPIC, David Fewer practiced with national firms in British Columbia and Ontario and clerked with the Federal Court of Canada. He has appeared before all levels of Canadian courts, including over a dozen appearances before the Supreme Court of Canada. His graduate work focused on intellectual property policy and applying the Charter to copyright law. He has taught and written extensively on intellectual property and technology law issues and is a frequent commentator in the media on such matters.
David Fewer earned his B.A., LL.B. and L.L.M. from the University of Toronto.
