Liwah Keller was an Articling Candidate for the Law Society of Ontario and the Copyright Law and Policy Fellow at the Samuelson-Glushko Canadian Internet Policy & Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC).
Liwah Keller graduated from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Commerce in 2018, with a Specialist in Management and a Major in Chemistry, and completed the JD program at the University of Toronto in 2021. Her main areas of interest are intellectual property, trade law, competition law, and privacy/data law.
During her time at law school, Liwah Keller was able to do innovation-related legal work in institutional settings–first as a research assistant at the Faculty of Law, an opportunity granted by the Gerald W. Schwartz Summer Fellowship, then as a summer legal student for BioZone (in UofT’s Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering), and finally through the Structural Genomics Consortium externship. These positions helped her understand not only the traditional laws surrounding innovation, but also to critique them and develop alternatives. She hopes that she can use what she learned to contribute to CIPPIC’s work, and continue to learn about how intellectual property and technology laws should be structured to benefit the public.
