Dr. Tobias Schonwetter is an Associate member at the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society and an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Cape Town.

A co-lead of the Open AIR network, Dr. Tobias Schonwetter leads the IP Unit and the iNtaka Centre for Law & Technology at the University of Cape Town. He specializes in and teaches intellectual property and cyber law, particularly the relationship between intellectual property, innovation and development. Dr. Schonwetter is a board member of UCT Press and regularly advises government entities in South Africa.  

Dr. Schonwetter has co-led numerous research projects in IP and IT law, including the Open AIR project. He was a Senior Manager at PwC, a Global Law Professor at KU Leuven and a Regional Coordinator for Creative Commons. Dr. Schonwetter has written numerous articles on intellectual property law and has spoken at national and international conferences.
