Regional Manager and Research Associate, Open AIR (2015-2023)



Victoria Schorr is an Open AIR Fellow at the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society.

Victoria Schorr is a sub-Saharan Africa specialist with nearly 20 years of experience analyzing African politics, economics, trade, and business. She holds an MSc in African Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies and a BA in African Studies from McGill University. Her areas of specialization include African political economy, African business and the private sector, international business and investment, international trade, behavioural economics, and development.

Previously, Victoria Schorr was the Regional Manager and Research Associate for Open AIR’s Canada hub from 2015 to 2023.

Prior to joining Open AIR, Victoria Schorr worked with organizations ranging from grassroots NGOs to the UN and with several Government of Canada departments including Global Affairs Canada. She has several academic and non-academic publications and has presented on African issues at conferences and events. Schorr was also a Board Member of the Canadian International Council’s Africa Study Group for over five years and is the Vice President of the Ottawa branch of the McGill Alumni Association. She is now the Chief of Operations at Africa Trade Desk.
