Louise Stahl is a PhD candidate in Communication at the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society, under the supervision of Dr. Elizabeth Dubois.
Louise Stahl’s research examines the process of credibility assessment of political information on WhatsApp. Looking at the specific case of Brazil, she explores how affordances of the media and social dynamics fostered in the application may affect the credibility evaluation process.
Prior to pursuing her doctorate, Louise Stahl completed her BA in social communication, with a focus on advertising and marketing at the University of São Paulo in Brazil. Before moving to Canada to continue her studies, she worked in advertising in Brazil for several years, mostly in digital advertising agencies such as Sapient Nitro, Dentsu Aegis Network and Mirum Agency.
Louise Stahl is a member of the Pol Comm Tech Lab and is currently part of the University of Ottawa’s research team for the Global Journalism Innovation Lab.
