Created in 2011, the Chair’s primary goal is to advance theoretical and empirical study on identity transformations and cultural changes in Quebec and Francophone Canada from a comparative and international perspective.

Research program

The Chair seeks to better understand how the main cultural changes since the Quiet Revolution have shaped the way citizens of Quebec and other Francophone communities relate to their nation and their identity. The Chair’s research program studies three main types of cultural change: socio-historic and socio-political; socio-religious; socio-demographic and identity-based. Finally, the Chair aims to serve as a key space for gathering, consolidating, and sharing research on Quebec.
