ENGAGE: Canadian Communities and Energy Decision-Making - October 2016
Oct 3, 2016 — All day
This conference brought together energy leaders from the public, private, academic, Indigenous and NGO sectors to address the question of local community satisfaction with energy project decision-making processes. It featured premiere speakers and the results of cutting-edge research undertaken by Positive Energy in collaboration with the Canada West Foundation.
Energy development has become increasingly contested at the local level. While opposition to pipelines is top of mind, energy projects of all stripes – from wind farms and other renewable energy sources like hydropower, to gas plants, transmission infrastructure, nuclear waste storage, and fracking – have confronted powerful local opposition in various communities. What is driving these energy conflicts and how do we fix it?
