History of some little-known stories about the development of IHL
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is celebrating its 160th year of existence in 2023. This anniversary is an ideal opportunity to look back on certain aspects of the evolution of international humanitarian law, to highlight the role played by Henry Dunant of Geneva in the formation of this law and also to draw attention to the need to recognize the contribution of different legal cultures in the development of this law.
Our Speaker
Professor Jabeur Fathally | HRREC Interim Director
Professor Fathally is the Interim Director of the University of Ottawa Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC). He is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section. He is a specialist in comparative law and international humanitarian law, with research focusing on a variety of complex legal topics and current events that promote critical analysis and dialogue on the various relationships between law, religion and human rights.
