Moving beyond the prison pandemic: Reducing the use and harms of imprisonment, working towards decarceral futures

Ahead of the third anniversary of the COVID-19 global pandemic declaration by the World Health Organization on 11 March 2020, this online webinar featuring speakers with lived expertise of imprisonment, human rights advocates, and researchers will assess how this public health catastrophe has exacerbated the harms of incarceration, as well as the challenges associated with diversion and decarceration from custody. Speakers will also address the possibilities and challenges that have emerged for organizing behind and beyond bars to reduce the use and harms of imprisonment, while working towards decarceral futures to enhance our collective well-being and safety.
