CIPS Director Rita Abrahamsen & Alex Trebek Postdoctoral Fellow Barbra Chimhandamba have released a new Policy Report that looks at Canada - Africa relations as Canada looks to develop its first Africa engagement strategy.

It argues that the African Union, as the continent’s regional organisation, should be at the heart of Canada’s Africa strategy and that a new engagement strategy for Africa will require significant investment not merely financially, but also in expertise. It also lays out two interrelated principles that should guide Canada's relationship with the AU, as well as some possible areas of cooperation.

This publication was made in the context of the project Changing Orders: Shaping the Future and securing Rights in a World in Transformation, jointly led by the Centre for International Policy Studies (CIPS), Institute for Science, Society and Policy (ISSP), Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC), and The Refugee Hub.
