The Shirley Greenberg Scholarship, named in honor of Ottawa lawyer, community leader, feminist icon, and philanthropist Shirley Greenberg, is awarded to a doctoral researcher who demonstrates academic excellence in feminist perspectives on the law. The Nicole Senécal Graduate Scholarship in International Law, established in 2006 by Nicole Senécal on the 40th anniversary of her graduation from the University of Ottawa’s LL.L. program, provides a minimum of $10,000 every two years to a Ph.D. student in international law. Nicole Senécal holds a Diplôme d'études supérieures in public international law from the University of Nice and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1967. During her distinguished career in the Canadian public service, she held various key roles, including Deputy Delegate to UNESCO, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Assistant Deputy Minister of Labour. After her retirement in 2001, Ms. Senécal dedicated herself to volunteer work in francophone education and served on the boards of several organizations.
