Dr. Teresa Scassa appeared before the House of Commons to discuss use of mobile data by public health agency

On February 10th 2022, Faculty member Dr. Teresa Scassa appeared before the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics (ETHI). The Committee is currently reviewing the collection and use of mobility data by the Public Health Agency of Canada to support the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On February 10th 2022, Faculty member Dr. Teresa Scassaappeared before the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics (ETHI). The Committee is currently reviewing the collection and use of mobility data by the Public Health Agency of Canada to support the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Scassa offered her comments on the current legal frameworks and needed reforms regarding the use of de-identified aggregate mobility data sourced from the private sector to inform public health decision-making during a pandemic.

Dr. Teresa Scassa is the Canada Research Chair in Information Law and Policy, a Faculty member et the Centre for Law, Technology and Society, and a Full Professor in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section at the University of Ottawa.
