Prof. Kerr Named LeBoff Distinguished Visiting Scholar at NYU

Professor Ian Kerr has been named the LeBoff Distinguished Visiting Scholar at New York University’s Steinhardt Department of Media, Culture, and Communication.

The LeBoff Distinguished Visiting Scholar Program brings the world’s most prominent scholars, writers and creative thinkers in the area of media, communication and cultural studies to NYU. The program is sponsored through the support of Phyllis and Gerald LeBoff, alumni of NYU.

Prof. Kerr will give a large public lecture during the 2010-11 academic year as well as a 2-3 week PhD course on robotics.

Prof. Kerr holds the Canada Research Chair in Ethics, Law, and Technology at the Faculty of Law with cross-appointments to the Faculty of Medicine, the Department of Philosophy, and the School of Information Studies. He was the principal investigator of On the Identity Trail, a collaborative research project which studied the impact of technology on privacy, identity, and anonymity.
