Professor Teresa Scassa has written a new book entitled Canadian Trademark Law, published by LexisNexis Canada.

Canadian Trademark Law is the first comprehensive treatise on Canadian trademark law in a bound book format.

The book provides a detailed consideration of the basic principles of Canadian trademark law, including a thorough analysis of the recognition, protection, enforcement and loss of trademarks rights under both the Trade-marks Act and at common or civil law. It examines the processes for the registration and maintenance of trademark rights, and judicial oversight of these processes.

Canadian Trademark Law also explores emerging issues, problems, and challenges in this rapidly developing area of law. Issues considered include the protection of trademarks on the internet, the protection of famous marks, geographical indications, conflicts of laws, counterfeiting and parallel importation, the harmonization of trademark regimes, and anticipated reforms to the Trade-marks Act – all vital aspects of contemporary trademark law in a transitioning, globalized and increasingly branded culture.
