Professors Jane Bailey and Valerie Steeves will present "Will the real digital girl please stand up?" at the EU Kids Online Conference at the London School of Economics on Friday September 23.
The conference is entitled "Children, risk and safety online: Research and policy changes in comparative perspective" and focuses on a series of questions relating to children online. Professors Steeves and Bailey will focus on Canadian policymakers' inattention to the sexualized commercial agenda that undermines girls' online agency. Their presentation is based on their book chapter, which is to be published in a collection entitled New Visualities, edited by J. Macgregor Wise of Arizona State University and Hille Koskela of the University of Helsinki.
