Research Management Services

Your resource for grant application assistance, research funding advice and administrative support, including help with knowledge mobilization and equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives. RMS ensures that researchers have the resources they need to conduct their research while providing effective management services that comply with granting agency requirements.

Strategic Development Initiatives

This office coordinates and administers major research infrastructure projects funded by government programs like the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Ontario Research Fund. It plays a key role in developing and implementing strategies that aim to bolster the University’s research capacity by identifying potential funding sources and supporting the preparation of major project proposals.

Awards and recognition

We provide support that allows our researchers to be nominated for institutional, national and international prizes and awards. This team helps identify relevant awards, assists in preparing nomination packages, and highlights researcher achievements to increase their visibility and impact. It contributes to promoting research excellence and strengthening the University’s reputation on the global stage.

International Research and Experiential Learning

This team helps University of Ottawa researchers collaborate with international partners to address the world's challenges. It serves the research community by securing external research funds, offering seed funding to build international collaborations, and supporting students conducting research abroad. By strengthening current research ties and encouraging participation in international initiatives, IREX promotes a more collaborative and global approach to research.

Office of Public Policy Research and Outreach

This team acts as a liaison between uOttawa researchers and government officials seeking evidence-based solutions to today's complex issues. It helps inform and shape public policy to build a stronger and more resilient future for communities in Canada and abroad. The OPPRO also hosts events and forums that allow researchers to share their knowledge with public decision-makers.

Innovation Support Services

From intellectual property protection to partnership facilitation, ISS helps you commercialize your discoveries. This team provides advice on how to bring technology to market, negotiate licensing agreements and create start-ups, thereby adding value to the results of our research and stimulating both local and national economies.

Bridging the gap between research and industry in Canada’s largest technology park, this campus fosters collaboration between uOttawa researchers and tech businesses and facilitates knowledge transfer and innovation. It provides a setting that encourages the development of high-tech solutions and the creation of strategic partnerships.

Research Security

This team protects the integrity of our research and ensures that researchers comply with security regulations and that research projects meet relevant legal and ethical standards. It provides training and resources that help researchers understand their regulatory requirements, and also manages risks related to research activities.

Office of Research Ethics and Integrity

This team provides administrative support to Research Ethics Boards (REBs) at the University of Ottawa. The Office ensures that researchers comply with applicable legislation, regulations and policies, including those set by federal agencies such as SSHRC, CIHR and NSERC. The team also promotes responsible conduct in research by encouraging ethical behaviour and integrity at every stage of research.

Animal Care and Use

This office ensures that the use of animals in research and teaching meets the highest ethical standards, while actively supporting cutting-edge science. We provide support to research teams, assist with compliance and facilitate the work of the Animal Care Committee (ACC). Our team offers training, monitors standards, and ensures that all activities adhere to internal and external regulations.

This respected and rigorous university publishing house fosters the dissemination of knowledge in both official languages. The UOP accompanies researchers at every step of the editorial process, from peer review to production and distribution of printed and digital publications.
