NINTH UN OPEN-ENDED WORKING GROUP (OEWG) ON AGEING.
The Right to be My Older Self: A North-South Discussion on Long-Term and Palliative Care, Autonomy and Independence.
The LIFE Research Institute and ILC-Canada hosted a side-event at the Ninth United Nations OEWG on Ageing on July 24th, 2018 in New York City, entitled: “The Right to be My Older Self: A North-South Discussion of Long-Term and Palliative Care, Autonomy and Independence”. This event was part of their efforts to outline an action plan for Canada’s involvement in the development of a UN Convention for the Rights of Older Persons. This initiative was possible with the gracious support from the Canadian Medical Association, le Réseau FADOQ and Home Instead Senior Care.
Speakers from Canada, Brazil and Rwanda discussed the state of long-term and palliative care and the older person’s ability to control their autonomy and independence.
