French Immersion Stream

The University of Ottawa's French Immersion Stream is designed for Anglophone and Allophone students who wish to pursue part of their university studies in French.

French immersion at uOttawa

Students who have attended high school in a language other than French and have followed a French-as-a-second-language program are eligible. The Stream is offered in more than 80 undergraduate programs in the 6 direct-entry faculties: Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Social Science, Telfer School of Management.

Students seeking a comfortable and truly immersive experience will take one-third of their courses taught in French throughout their program of study.

Courses

The objective of French Immersion Stream is to help you become bilingual. By choosing to take some of your regular content courses, such as biology, history, and so forth, but in French, you will develop knowledge related to your field in both languages.

Immersion Mentoring Centre

The Immersion Mentors are upper-year Immersion and Extended French students. When you have questions or issues, be sure to reach out to them! They know exactly what you're going through, because they've been in your shoes!
