Participating in Convocation
Convocation is the final step of university study for most of our students. These new graduates add to the ever-increasing number of ambassadors for our institution. This day holds great significance not only for the students and their relatives but also for the University of Ottawa.
Your presence as a professor or a librarian is certainly an indication of the respect and pride that you feel for this new cohort of graduates. Moreover, students are always very proud to see many of you on stage at the time of the presentation of degrees. Thus, we strongly encourage you to participate in Convocation, and if you are able, to meet with the students and their relatives after the ceremony.
Instructions for thesis supervisors during the ceremony
Doctoral students will be called to the stage and you will have a chance to congratulate them just before they leave the stage. Afterward, you may accompany the graduate backstage, where they may take photos and receive their diploma.
