Destination Clic & Explore

Destination Clic and Explore are experiential learning programs for teens across the country. They allow youth to gain confidence in their French or English by participating in stimulating, varied workshops right here on the University campus.

2024 Edition

Session 1: June 30 to July 19 (Destination Clic, Explore FSL and Explore ESL)
Session 2: July 21 to August 9 (Destination Clic, Explore FSL and Explore ESL)

Differences between the three programs

Destination Clic is aimed at Canadian francophones (outside Quebec) who wish to immerse themselves in a francophone environment by taking part in workshops and field trips over 19 to 21 days.

Explore FSL is a program for Canadian anglophones who wish to learn French or improve their French skills.

Explore ESL is a program for Canadian francophones who wish to learn English or improve their English skills.

What to expect

Our instructors and counsellors as well as our special guests are eager to meet you and offer you fun activities in a 100% francophone or anglophone environment, in person in Canada’s capital at the largest English-French bilingual university in the world!

  • Activities Monday to Friday, usually noon to 3 p.m. (Eastern Time). Times to be confirmed.
  • An opportunity to meet young francophones from around the country.
  • Program includes language courses, interactive workshops, outings and social activities focusing on a range of exciting topics.

Who can take part

Destination Clic eligibility criteria. You must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (study permit holders aren’t eligible)
  • Attend a French-language (first language) school and be in Grade 8, 9 or 10
  • Have your permanent residence outside Quebec

Students whose first language is French but don’t attend a French-language school can also apply. We may have to ask for additional documentation or to take a closer look at your camper’s file to determine their language level.

To be eligible for Explore, you must meet both of the following criteria:

  • be either a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident (those studying in Canada on a student visa are not eligible); and
  • meet the institution’s minimum age requirement by the time Explore begins (ages 13 to 15, 16 to 17, or 18+).
     
You must also meet one of the following criteria depending on your age:
  • have been a part-time or full-time student for at least one term during the current school year; or
  • have been an Odyssey participant within the last two years.

Fall

  • Prepare to register and get authorization from the school
  • Keep an eye out for information

Winter

  • Receive confirmation of the summer camp placement at the University of Ottawa (late February or early March)
  • In the 10 working days following the place placement, expect an email with registration details
  • Pay the registration fee (non-refundable)

Pack your camper’s bags. We’ll email you a list of items to remember to pack during the year.
