The Canadian Centre for Studies and Research on Bilingualism and Language Planning (CCERBAL) is the national and international hub for the study and design of public policy on bilingualism and linguistic duality. Our research allows OLBI and the University of Ottawa to assert their roles as catalysts and essential sources of expertise for the growth of bilingualism and support of language planning in Canada. We attract top researchers to our first-rate research infrastructure and promote interdisciplinarity via international and intercultural exchanges and discussions.
We are community-builders of internationally recognized researchers, prime consultants in dealing with issues related to language planning and social cohesion. We work with Canadian and international university communities, all levels of government and to public and paragovernmental agencies with bilingualism and official language responsibilities.
Our research chairs and research interest groups work on a wide array of specific aspects of bilingualism and language related to areas such as society and bilingualism, new technologies used in language instruction, evaluation of language skills and language policies.
