To enrol in a second language course, follow these simple steps:
Undergraduate students
- Complete the online Placement Test to determine which courses you’re eligible to enrol in.
- Once you’ve received your placement test results, see our FLS or ELS course sequence (above) and learn about the courses.
- Use the class search tool to find the schedules for the FLS and ESL courses available in the coming academic year.
- Once you know what course you’d like to enrol in, log into uoZone. Under Applications, select Enrol.

Graduate students
Graduate students who want to enrol in a second language course require the approval of their program or thesis director. Typically, final grades in ESL and FLS courses don’t count in a graduate student’s grade point average. To confirm this, contact your faculty’s Office of Graduate Studies.
