MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

The Faculty of Medicine is nationally recognized as a leader in medical education and research, attracting the best academic talent from across Canada and the world. We hold the distinction of being the country’s only medical school offering courses in both official languages. The Faculty and its affiliated partners have achieved the highest undergraduate medical education (UGME) accreditation results to-date, and are rated amongst the most successful in research grants and funding.

The educational objectives of the UGME program are based on CanMEDS Roles and are delivered using a modern teaching curriculum that provides a balance between directed and independent study. The program spans 147 weeks of instruction, 72 weeks of which are devoted to clinical work, and leads to a Doctor of Medicine degree.

The Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) program offers 61 postgraduate training programs leading to certification by The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).

If you wish to pursue a master's or doctoral degree, our MSc and PhD programs offer you a vast and unique blend of research possibilities spanning a total of nine programs including our MD/PhD program.
