Mathematics

Mathematics is a fascinating and tremendously valuable subject that permeates every level of our knowledge and investigation of the world in which we live. Its contributions help in the progress of several other disciplines. A training in mathematics together with studies in a second discipline and in the use of computers is an excellent preparation for careers in the chosen discipline.

The Faculty of Arts and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics offer BA programs with concentration or honours in mathematics. Each of these can be combined with a concentration or an honours in a second discipline of the Faculty of Arts. A co-operative option has now been set up for the BA honours in mathematics combined with a concentration in one of the following disciplines: geography, linguistics or economics. In these programs, students must alternate four work terms with their study terms beginning with the summer following the second year of studies.
