About the event

The book describes the main findings from an ongoing applied research project that, over the last 23 years, has assessed the service needs and monitored the developmental outcomes of more than 35,000 children and youths living in out-of-home care (e.g., foster care) in settings supervised by some 44 local child welfare Societies across Ontario, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous. The project has operated since 2000 and has been housed in the Centre for Research on Educational and Community Services (CRECS) in the uOttawa Faculty of Social Sciences. The project is mandated and funded by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and works in partnership with the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies in Toronto. Some of the royalties will go to supporting an annual bursary for a student in the uOttawa School of Social Work.
