Technology-facilitated violence extends beyond physical aggression, encompassing stalking, harassment, hate speech and more, and causing a wide range of harm. University of Ottawa professors Jane Bailey and Valerie Steeves lead the eQuality Project, a research initiative to move beyond reactive criminal response toward regulatory and education interventions, focusing on young people’s experiences in network spaces, particularly regarding privacy and equality.
The eQuality Project aims to help young people articulate their experiences, to improve policies and practices, and promote a world that prioritizes rights over profits.
