Giving Tuesday is more than just a day of giving; it is a celebration of generosity, community and the shared commitment to making the world a better place. At uOttawa, Giving Tuesday is a time for faculty members, staff, alumni and friends to come together and support important campus projects that help the University in its mission to educate, inspire and lead.
Looking ahead to Giving Tuesday 2024
On December 3, the University of Ottawa community will unite once again to make a difference. Consider donating non-perishable food items to the University of Ottawa Students’ Union food bank, addressing food insecurity on campus through the uOttawa Fund, or donating to an important uOttawa project close to your heart.
Together, we can tackle pressing issues like food insecurity and ensure that every student has the resources to succeed. Let’s continue to build a stronger and more supportive campus community.
Save the date: Giving Tuesday falls on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
The power of giving: Highlights from 2023
Last year, Giving Tuesday brought together over 400 donors—faculty members, staff, alumni and friends—who collectively raised $109,368 for vital campus projects. They also contributed more than 400 non-perishable food items to the campus food bank, directly addressing food insecurity.
Many donors chose to help address food insecurity among our students. With the cost of living rising, along with other financial pressures, more students continue to have trouble meeting their basic needs, including access to nutritious food. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we were able to expand our food assistance programs and help fill the shelves of our campus food bank.
“Thank you for being part of our 2023 Giving Tuesday initiative. Your commitment to making a difference is truly commendable. Together, we are helping to build a stronger and more supportive campus community."

Your donations in action: Making a difference
The funds raised during Giving Tuesday 2023 support a wide range of initiatives that are vital to our campus community. From enhancing student scholarships and innovative research, to supporting the Telfer Nation Fund and the Certificate in Indigenous Laws, these contributions make a real difference in the lives of our students and faculty members.
“As a first-time Jeux du Commerce delegate last year, I saw firsthand the impact of Giving Tuesday. Competing at such a prestigious event not only strengthened my skills, but also boosted our team’s confidence, knowing we had the resources needed to succeed and shine on a big stage. Having a Telfer degree now goes beyond theory. Every dollar gives us the chance to apply our education to real-world situations. These experiences are worth every investment, and I am sure we are shaping a bright future as Telfer students.” - Samar M. Ahmed (student in the BCom, International Business program)
Every dollar donated helps to create a more inclusive, supportive and dynamic learning environment at the University of Ottawa.
