In March 2024, the Library launched the Esports Showcase Week at Brian Dickson Law Library as a pilot project to explore how an Esports program could align with the Library's academic mission and enhance student life. This pilot was a collaborative effort involving the Library, Law Professor Thomas Burelli, and the uOttawa Esports Student Club. The project was highly successful, garnering strong engagement, high participation rates, and positive feedback from participants.

Building on this success, the Library is excited to announce Phase 2 of its Esports and gaming program.

Continuing the collaboration with Professor Burelli and the uOttawa Esports Student Club, Phase 2 will also involve new partners, including the uOttawa Game Development Student Club. This next phase is scheduled to begin in September 2024 and will run throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Esports and gaming program will take place at Morisset Library (Room MRT 144), a versatile space now equipped with 12 gaming computers, a TV for console gaming, and a screen with a projector. The room also features movable tables for flexible arrangements.

Whether you're interested in free play, coaching, competitions, or workshops, there's something for everyone! Stay Tuned, more details about the program schedule will be published soon. See you there!
