A member of the Common Equipment and Technical Services (CETS) team, Genevieve assists students and staff by helping to maintain shared equipment in optimum condition. Her teaching skills in both one-on-one and group training sessions are impressive, with her recent overhaul of the mandatory centrifuge training course making it not only informative, but also fun and memorable.
Another part of Genevieve’s job is troubleshooting hazards in common areas and identifying workable solutions.
When someone improperly disposed of biohazardous waste, Gen used her keen eye and graphic design skills to generate eye-catching signage and restructure the waste collection points to avoid a repeat. She also helped create “The Bucket List,” a graphical roadmap depicting how to better instruct researchers to properly segregate their laboratory waste streams. The waste flow system that she developed during her years as a research laboratory technician is considered the gold standard, and she’s now helping other laboratories set up similar systems. Finally, she serves as a designated first aider and volunteer building warden. Genevieve is a safety leader!
We extend our sincere congratulations to Genevieve Paris and to the Faculty of Medicine!
