The Faculty of Engineering congratulates the following Chemical Engineering graduate students whose thesis have been nominated for highly prestigious awards for the Winter 2021 term.

Fahad Al-Amin Chowdhury (Supervisors: Prof. Poupak Mehrani and Prof. Andrew Sowinski) [PhD]

PhD student Fahad Al-Amin Chowdhury’s thesis, titled CFD Simulation of Electrostatic Charging in Gas-Solid Fluidized Beds : Model Development Through Fundamental Charge Transfer Experiments  has been nominated for the three following awards: (1) Most Outstanding PhD Thesis in Faculty of Engineering; (2) Governor General’s Gold Medal; (3) Pierre Laberge Prize.

Christopher Panaritis (Supervisor: Prof. Elena Baranova) [PhD]

hD Student Christopher Panaritis’s tesis, titled Metal-Support Interaction and Electrochemical Promotion of Nano-Structured Catalysts for the Reverse Water Gas Shift Reaction, has been nominated for the three following awards: (1) Most Outstanding PhD Thesis in Faculty of Engineering; (2) Governor General’s Gold Medal; (3) Pierre Laberge Prize.

Christopher McIntyre (Supervisors: Prof. Arturo Macchi and Prof. Poupak Mehrani) [MASc]

Master student Christopher McIntyre’s thesis, titled CPFD Modeling of a Novel Internally Circulating Bubbling Fluidized Bed for Chemical Looping Combustion, has been nominated for the two following awards: (1) Most Outstanding Master’s Thesis in Faculty of Engineering; (2) The Commission on Graduate Studies in Sciences Prize.

Jacob Mach (Supervisor: Prof. Arturo Macchi) [PhD]

PhD student Jacob Mach’s thesis, titled Impact of Fluids Distribution System on Bubble Column Hydrodynamics, has been nominated for the three following awards: (1) Most Outstanding PhD Thesis in Faculty of Engineering; (2) Governor General’s Gold Medal; (3) Pierre Laberge Prize.
